KAPOK beanbag chair
The task was to design a beanbag chair from 100% sustainable materials for a startup from Berlin.
As you probably know common filler material for this type of furniture is plastic PVC-balls.
After some research, we ended up with 3 sustainable materials: linen and seagrass for textiles and KAPOK as the main filler.
While searching for the materials we got to know more about KAPOK, it is cotton-like material, that just grows on a tree (I couldn't believe my eyes) And actually Kapok was mostly used before for stuffing mattresses and kids toys ❤️
